Hey, welcome to Mark Eller's author pages. Come inside and take a look around. See what I have to offer. You will find links to other authors and their books. There is a fun page, lots about me, and a link leading to writing resources if you are an author. If you get bored here, click on Blogville and head on over to where my blog and lots of other Mark things are housed, or you can click on the link that will take you to my podcast pages. From there you can look at my podcasts, download specific episodes, or even follow links to podcast directories where you can subscribe to them.
But enough about that. Let's get into the important stuff.
Me
What can I say. I'm a regular Joe who happens to enjoy writing stories and reading them out loud. I'm also the kind of fellow who likes working with his hands, but that is sort of to be expected since I worked skilled trades for 25 years. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, in fact. Want basic plumbing done, electrical, heating, washers and driers and a host of other things, I'm your guy. Just don't ask me to look at your car because I'm hopeless there...on purpose. The last thing I want is to spend my life with my head stuck under the hood of my, or any other vehicle. I'm also married, have three great kids, and am owned by eight very screaming parrots. See that parrot tab over there. Yeah, the one that says Parrots. That's the one that shows you what the damn things look like. Love them all.

Short Stories
|
|
To date I've had short stories published in Demonminds, Bewildering Stories, Scared Naked Magazine, Anon Literary Magazine, Talespinner's Tavern, Planet Relish, and a few other places. All total, about twenty or so shorts. Not a lot, but I've never thought of myself as a short story writer.

What about Books
|
I actually prefer to think of myself as a novel writer. At this moment I have seven book contracts with Swimming Kangaroo Books. The first book, Traitor, of The Turner Chronicles, was published in April of 2009. The Turner Chronicles is a four book slipstream sci/fi series.
All three books of my other series, God Wars, written in conjunction with my wonderful partner, Elizabeth Draper, was also picked up for publication by Swimming Kangaroo. I am presently working on a series of short stories for a collection called Mercy Bend. At present it is already over 100,000 words.

What kind of writer am I?
|
Damned if I know. I think of myself as a scifi/fantasy writer, but some realizations have been forced upon me, such as the fact that most of my published shorts sort of fall into the horror realm. Then my friend Emz made me throw a Horror Fest at my Hell Hole Tavern in Second Life...)yes I have a presence in second life. Bunch of land and a tavern with Hell attached even)... and as part of the horror fest she interviewed me as a horror writer, as did Second Life TV, and the Anon Editors called me a horror writer and other people called me a horror writer so there is no denying it...I write science fiction and fantasy. Well okay, Mercy Bend is probably horror, but that's an accident I tell you. A pure accident. Nothing more. Honest.

Podcasting Anyone
|
Yes, I'm a ham. At the moment I have two podcasts with plans for a third on the way. The Hell Hole Tavern was done with Liz. It presents God Wars, a dark fantasy trilogy, along with a skit that Liz and I do before and after the episode. Along the way we picked up new people who loved the skits, so much so that they joined in. Thank you Chad and Ashley.
But all things must end, and we eventually ran out of stories, so the Tavern ended, though the podcast is still out there, which you can discover if you click on the podcasts tab.
I then ran on to do Mercy Bend.
Mercy Bend was originally intended to be a place where I could shove some of my shorts, but it has since become more since I kept writing new stories for it. With time the thing will become a book in itself since it is already nearing one hundred thousand words. If you want to take a listen, just click on the podcasts tab and follow it to the Bend.
And since projects never end, I plan on podcasting The Turner Chronicles within the next few months too. Love to hear myself talk, obviously.
